Clean
A solo show I am currently writing for a female in her early twenties.
My work in progress for Words In Progress brief for Clean [working title of words in title]
?An extract: Copyright Peter Hobday 2013. When I was eight my grandfather was washing his clothes at our house. They were hung on our washing line. They were so white that I needed to dirty them. I tried to pull them off so they’d fall on the grass. It wouldn’t clearly dirty them necessarily but it would be enough to know that they had touched something that I knew wasn’t white. I wouldn’t stamp on them, I just wanted to erase the idea they were protected or being withheld from a certain fate. The grass was so green. I plucked a piece of grass and gave one to each item. It was a Christening. No one knew about it but I did, that was more than enough. I hated coco pops as a child for the opposite reason. As soon as the milk goes on, the colour completely dirties the white milk. I still put yogurt on cereal, not that I have it a lot but the colours don’t run.
